MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer battled tough against the league-leading Mount Olive Trojans in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday afternoon.

Chowan battled with the league-leading Trojans for 77 minutes before the opening score.
Kirsten Peterson collected nine saves including a penalty kick save.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Mount Olive went on the attack first as Kirsten Peterson was forced to make a save in the 12'. Regan Jackson sent on a shot on frame in the 13' but was turned away.
The Trojans had a strong chance in the 16' to take the lead as the attacking player slipped past the defense but would hit the near post on a wide-open attempt.
The teams went into the locker room in a stalemate.
Second Half:
After making an early save in the half, Kirsten Peterson stepped up to make a huge save in the 53' as Mount Olive was granted a penalty kick. UMO went to the keeper's right and was stopped in its tracks to keep the match level.
The Chowan backline of Ysa Novak, Madeline Bell, Destiny Makanjuola, and Tessa Whitley stayed strong not allowing too many dangerous attempts.
The tide would turn in the 73' as Chowan was shown a red card. The Hawks would battle through the adversity until Mount Olive scored a pair of goals within 37 seconds in the 78'.

Chowan wraps up the regular season as the Hawks host King in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday, October 22. Senior day festivities will occur prior to the 12pm kick-off.
