Hawks Shutout On The Road Against Bobcats

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team was shutout on the road in Conference Carolinas action against Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Chowan posted five shots in the contest with three on target.  Natasha Bailey took four shots posting two on frame.  Cristina Flores collected one shot.

Kirsten Peterson made seven saves in goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Kirsten Peterson made a save to start the contest before Lees-McRae was able to find the back of the net in the 8' to lead 1-0.

Natasha Bailey posted a shot on goal in the 20' but was turned away.  Bailey would make another attempt on goal in the 30', also to be turned away.

Kirsten Peterson made two more saves after the goal to trail 1-0 at the intermission.

Second Half:

Kirsten Peterson was forced to make four more saves in the early portion of the half.

The Bobcats would find an insurance goal in the 72' off the corner kick to lead 2-0.

Cristina Flores had her shot saved in the 85' as Lees-McRae preserved the shutout.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns home on Tuesday, October 18 against league-leading Mount Olive.  First touch is slated for 2pm.
