MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team picked up a much needed win to snap the streak as Sabrina Henderson tallied a hat-trick to lead the Hawks to a 4-0 win over Francis Marion in Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday.

Sabrina Henderson scored three goals to push her season total to four on the season. Henderson posted the first hat-trick since her four goal outing in 2018. The hat-trick is her second of her career. Henderson also added an assist.
Carolina Lucci scored a goal and added an assist. Nicole Mejia and Lillian DeLucca notched an assist on the afternoon.
Allison Traub and the defensive back line of Ysa Novak, Kaitlyn Waterman, Brielle Dumont, and Madeline Bell helped preserve the clean sheet for the first shutout of the season. Traub collected six saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Francis Marion posted a shot wide in the first two minutes of the match. A minute later, Sabrina Henderson would miss wide left.
Allison Traub made a save in the 21' before Carolina Lucci forced the Patriots' keeper to make a save.
Sabrina Henderson nearly made it 1-0 in the 29' as her shot bounced off the post. 90 seconds later, Henderson would send a through ball up to the streaking Carolina Lucci for a wide-open attempt for the opening goal in the 30'.
The Hawks continued to pepper the cage with a pair of shots by Carolina Lucci. Lucci would return the favor to Sabrina Henderson in the 39' on the counter attack as Henderson sent the attempt into the near post to lead 2-0.
Second Half:
Midfield play would shine the brightest for the Hawks in the 59' as Nicole Mejia sent a through ball near midfield up to Sabrina Henderson. Henderson would find the near post again to lead 3-0.
Francis Marion had a strong attempt at their first goal in the 73' as the attempt hit the crossbar and went straight down before being collected by Allison Traub.
Once again, a through ball from midfield, this time by Lillian DeLucca, found Sabrina Henderson all alone in space to push the advantage to 4-0 in the 77'.
Francis Marion had two attempts in the latter stages of the match but would be easily turned away by Allison Traub and the defense.
