MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Football team will take the field on Thursday evening for the first time in 661 days when the Hawks travel to take on Mars Hill.

GAME NOTES

  • Last Season: Chowan posted a 3-7 overall record during the 2019 season.
  • Chowan enters the season under the direction of “first” year head coach Mark Hall.  Hall spent the past decade as the offensive coordinator before taking over at the helm following the conclusion of the 2019 season.
  • The Hawks return senior signal caller, Bryce Witt.  Witt ranks first in program history in passing yards (6584), passing touchdowns (68), and completions (490).
  • Imeek Watkins and RaCee Lucas will look to be the familiar targets for Witt.
  • Raydarius Freeman, Rafiq Abdul-Wahid, and Connor O'Brien will anchor the defensive unit for the Hawks.

GAME NOTES

  • Last Season: Mars Hill went 1-2 during the spring season.
  • Mars Hill was selected to finish seventh in the SAC.
  • The Lions offensively, led by quarterback Jimmy Urzua posted 508 yards and three touchdowns during the spring.  Running back Christopher Roberts tallied 283 yards and six touchdowns, while receiver Marquis Williams posted six receptions for 250 yards and two scores.
  • Linebackers: Dexter Fitzpatrick and Landon Honeycutt are players to watch on the defensive side.
