MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer team posted a 1-0 shutout victory over Mount Olive in the final match of the 2021 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship Pool Play on Sunday.
The match was also senior day for Chowan after the initial senior day was canceled on April 11.

Toby Sims scored in the 14' off an assist from Harrison Ardron on a free kick for the only tally in the contest.
Senior, Ryan Martin picked up the win in goal, his first of his career, posting one save in 45 minutes of action. Ross Miller, Enrry Ortiz-Miller, along with Martin combined for the shutout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Toby Sims and Dennis Bates had early shots blocked. Harrison Ardron posted a shot in the ninth minute that required a save from the Trojans.
A foul on the right side of the pitch from 30 yards out gave the Hawks a set piece in the 14'. Harrison Ardron swung in the free kick and found Toby Sims near the far post, where Sims headed the ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Harrison Ardron nearly gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead as a curling shot in the 24' hit the crossbar and was cleared by the Trojan defense.
Mount Olive made Ryan Martin make a save in the 32' for the only on target shot of the half.
Second Half:
Chowan thought they made it 2-0 in the 60' as a corner kick on the far side of the pitch was sent in and found the back of the net before being waved off for offsides.
Ross Miller made a save in the 69' and Enrry Ortiz-Miller made a save in the 87' as the Chowan defense held on to the shutout performance.
