FLORENCE, S.C. – A late flurry of shots by the Chowan Men's Soccer team was not enough for the Hawks to find the back of the net as Chowan was denied an appearance in the 2021 Conference Carolinas Spring Men's Soccer Championship match on Friday evening.

Chowan outshot Barton 23-3 in the contest with five shots on target for the Hawks compared to one for the Bulldogs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Zouhair Bettache and Dennis Bates recorded shots early for the Hawks.
Barton recorded their only shot on frame and found the back of the net in the lower left corner in the ninth minute.
Harrison Ardron would have his shot denied in the 27' trying to find the left top corner.
Erik Ruiz, Toby Sims, and Harri Lovett had shots blocked late in the half.
Second Half:
Harrison Ardron nearly scored the equalizer as the Barton keeper was forced to make a save in the 47'.
The defensive intensity continued throughout the period as eight cards were handed out in the half.
Wesley Illes recorded a shot on frame but was saved in the 77'. Late in the period, Toby Sims and Dennis Bates had attempts knocked away and out for corner kicks.
A close range shot from Thomas Shin off a corner would bounce over the bar that nearly missed for the equalizer.
