HOW IT HAPPENED

Game Three: Chowan 4, Erskine 3 – eight innings

The Hawks would strike first in the top of the third inning as Ty Johnson drew a lead-off walk and stole second.  Tyler West doubled home Johnson for the opening tally of the ball game.  West advanced to third on a wild pitch before Dallas Trevena singled to right center to move the advantage to 2-0.

Shane Rademacher continued to keep the Fleet off balance allowing only three base runners through five innings.

Chowan added a run in the sixth inning as Tyler Jones doubled to left center.  Trenton Lee produced a two-out single to score Jones for the 3-0 lead.

Erskine picked up their first hit in the bottom of the sixth inning.  The Fleet would get two runners on after a walk, but a fly out and ground out ended the inning.

Surpassing 100 pitches in the ball game, the Fleet finally got to Shane Rademacher recording three straight hits to start the seventh.  A strikeout followed by a sacrifice fly closed the gap to 3-2 before the Fleet evened the score with a single.

With the international tie-breaker in play, Noah Evington was placed on second and moved to third on a single by Justin Winslow.  Winslow swiped second before being thrown out at the plate trying to score on a Tyler Jones' single to left that plated Evington to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead.

Jayden Bailey relieved Shane Rademacher to start the eighth inning.  Bailey did not allow the placed runner at second to move, picking up three quick outs on eight pitches to complete the save.

Game Four: Chowan 3, Erskine 20

The Hawks loaded the bases in the top of the first inning with two outs as Jeffrey Hiner, Joe Nelms, and Tristan Council drew full-count walks.  Chowan was unable to plate a run during the inning.

Erskine would take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on five hits.  Chowan picked up a run in the top of the third inning as Trenton Lee reached on an infield single.  Joe Nelms would score Lee on a double to left center to close the gap to 3-1.

The Fleet opened the contest up in the bottom half of the third recording eight runs off seven hits to lead 11-1.  Erskine tacked on eight more runs in the fourth inning and a run in the fifth to increase the lead to 20-1.

Joe Nelms sparked a rally in the eighth inning with a full-count walk.  Nelms moved to second on a wild pitch and stole third before Dallas Trevena deposited a 2-1 pitch over the fence.
