MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The youth of the Chowan Men's Lacrosse team made a big stride this season despite the results as the Hawks dropped a Conference Carolinas match to Emmanuel at home on Senior Day.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Jaxon Martin and Eric George tallied hat-tricks in the final game of the season. Martin dished out two assists, while George posted one.
Jackson Downs, Alex Wildeboer, and Erik Dozzi posted two goals each, while Jason Jenkins II scored one. Dozzi led the Hawks with three assists.
Hassan Davis, Jaylen Pierre, Alex Wildeboer, and Harrison Buckman notched one assist each.
Hank Wells, Adam Howard, and Jack Ellis were honored before the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period:
Chowan had opportunities early in the period as Eric George's shot was saved and Jason Jenkins II had hit shot hit the post.
Emmanuel would answer with two goals in the middle portion of the period. Harrison Buckman found Jaxon Martin for the first goal for the Hawks on a man-up opportunity. The Hawks would cash in again on the man-up as Alex Wildeboer found Jackson Downs to even the score.
The Lions would take a 3-2 advantage quickly following the Hawks' attack. Emmanuel added three more goals to lead 6-2 at the end of the period.
Second Period:
The momentum continued for the Lions as the lead swelled to 9-2. Chowan swung the momentum as Erik Dozzi found Alex Wildeboer to start a goal run for the Hawks. Hassan Davis won the ensuing face-off and found Eric George for an easy tally. Jason Jenkins II scored an unassisted tally to keep the run moving. Dozzi would find Jaxon Martin for a goal to cut the deficit to 9-6.
Following an Emmanuel goal, Eric George found Jaxon Martin for a tally before another Lions goal. Jackson Downs scored an unassisted goal before heading into the intermission with a 12-8 deficit.
Third Period:
Emmanuel pushed their advantage to 16-8 through the first portion of the period. Eric George scored an unassisted tally for the only goal for the Hawks in the period.
The Lions scored with just over two minutes to lead 17-9.
Fourth Period:
The Lions opened the scoring in the period before Jaxon Martin found Erik Dozzi for a score. Dozzi would then find Alex Wildeboer to cut the deficit to 18-11.
The Hawks had some unfortunate bounces as Jackson Downs and Jaxon Martin had shots denied by the keeper and Jason Jenkins II and Erik Dozzi was denied by the post. Martin was able to find Eric George for a goal to break the "curse".
Jaylen Pierre would find Erik Dozzi for the final tally in the contest.
THE SEASON
Eric George, Jaxon Martin, and Jackson Downs each posted 20+ goals and 10+ assists this season. The Hawks will continue to build under Coach Josh Seese for the 2022 season.
