MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 16-6 loss to Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas action at home on Saturday afternoon inside Garrison Stadium.

Brooke Woods-Pennell and Charity Brown led the Hawks with two goals each.

Kyra Jones and Rebekah Lucas recorded their first collegiate goals.

Mallory Dunker recorded 11 saves in goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Charity Brown would put the Hawks on the board in the ninth minute on a breakaway to even the score at 1-all.

Grace Taylor would find a cutting Brooke Woods-Pennell midway through the opening half to keep the score tied at 2-all.

Lees-McRae rattled off six straight goals to end the opening half to lead 8-2.  Six of those goals came in the final 10 minutes.

Second Half:

Charity Brown provided a small spark to open the second half scoring an unassisted goal just 49 seconds into the half.

The Bobcats countered with three straight goals before Leia Cabradillia found Brooke Woods-Pennell for a goal to cut the deficit down to 11-4.

After another three goal run by the Bobcats, Rebekah Lucas scored after scooping up the ground ball and finding the back of the net.  Kyra Jones would post the final goal in the contest with an unassisted tally.

UP NEXT

Chowan will make the trip to Wilson to take on Barton in a Conference Carolinas contest on Wednesday, March 10.  Opening draw control is slated for 3:30pm.
