Hawks Grounded By Crusaders On The Road

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – A slow scoring outing for the Chowan Men's Lacrosse team hindered the Hawks in a Conference Carolinas contest against North Greenville on the road on Saturday.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Jaxon Martin paced the offense with two goals.  Chris Maini, Jason Jenkins II, Eric George and Erik Dozzi posted one goal each.

Eric George, Erik Dozzi, and Jackson Downs posted an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Period:

NGU opened the contest with five goals in the first 10 minutes to lead 5-0.

Jaxon Martin slowed the run with an unassisted goal.  Eric George would find Erik Dozzi on a man-up situation to close the gap to 5-2.

The Crusaders found the back of the net with less than a minute in the period to lead 6-2.

Second Period:

Chowan benefited from an illegal stick to go on the man advantage in the period as Erik Dozzi found Jaxon Martin just 47 seconds into the period for a goal.

NGU countered with seven straight goals to lead 13-3.

Eric George scored an unassisted tally before NGU scored two more goals before the half to lead 15-3.

Third Period:

Chris Maini opened the scoring for the Hawks in the period after Jackson Downs collected the ground ball and found Maini for the score.

NGU closed out the period scoring six goals to lead 21-5.

Fourth Period:

The Crusaders pushed their lead to 24-5 before Jason Jenkins II scored an unassisted tally.

NGU scored three more goals before the final whistle.

Chowan returns home to take on Lees-McRae on April 10 in Conference Carolinas action.
