CENTRAL, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 17-4 loss to open the season at Southern Wesleyan in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Leia Cabradillia tallied two goals to pace the Hawks. Charity Brown and Grace Taylor posted one goal each. Brown picked up three draw controls.
Kyra Jones recorded four ground balls. Mallory Dunker recorded 14 saves in goal and hauled in six ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Southern Wesleyan jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before Charity Brown found the back of the net on a free position attempt.
The Warriors increased their lead to 5-1 prior to Leia Cabradillia scoring on a free position attempt.
SWU took a 10-2 lead into the intermission.
Second Half:
Southern Wesleyan would increase their lead to 16-2 before Leia Cabradillia collected Jordan Nicholson's saved attempt and deposited the shot into the back of the net.
Grace Taylor scored her first collegiate goal with 7:39 remaining to close the gap to 16-4.

Chowan is scheduled to host Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday, March 6. Opening draw control is scheduled for 1pm in Garrison Stadium.
