Chowan Hoops Host Pair To End 2021

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's and Women's Basketball teams have wrapped up their final exams and look towards 2022 with the final two games of the year starting on Wednesday against Francis Marion and then against King on Saturday.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTES

Chowan moved to 3-4 on the season and 3-2 in league play after a tough loss to #25 Barton last week.

Destiny Robinson paces the team with 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.  Aniah Patterson is averaging 10.7 points per game.

FLANKING THE PATRIOTS

Francis Marion comes into the contest with a 3-4 overall record and a 2-3 mark in league play.  The Patriots are on a two game win streak.  FMU is 1-4 away from Florence this season.

Zaria Woods leads the trio of Patriots in double-figures with 15.0 points and 8.9 rebounds.  Lauryn Taylor (13.7) and Scarlett Gilmore (12.9) also score in double-figures.

WEATHERING THE TORNADO

King enters the week as one of the hottest teams in the league with a 6-2 overall record and 5-1 in league play.  The Tornado has played all but one game this season on the road.

Trinity Lee paces the team with 19.7 points per game.  Brianna Dunbar is averaging 14.1 points and 3.1 assists.

MEN'S BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS

The Hawks are still fighting for their first win of the season with a 0-7 overall record and a 0-5 mark in league play.

Christian Koonce leads the team averaging 12.4 points per game.  Jay Estime contributes 12.0 points.  After collecting five points through the first six games (scoreless in the first three), Daylen Askew exploded for 23 points against Barton.

HANDLING THE PATRIOTS

Francis Marion is 3-4 on the season and 1-4 in conference play.  The Patriots are on a three-game skid.

FMU has four players in double-figures with Alex Cox leading the way averaging 17.3 points per game while shooting 46.7% from behind the arc.  Jonah Pierce is averaging 15.9 points, shooting 68.9% from the floor.

TORNADO WARNING

King enters the week with a 4-4 overall record and 2-4 clip in league play.  Michael Mays leads the team with 16.6 points per game, shooting 43.1% from deep and 49.5% from the floor.
