Chowan Men's Soccer In The Sweet 16 Against Sharks

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer team heads to Georgia to take on Nova Southeastern in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Sweet 16 on Thursday.

The winner will take on either Young Harris or Auburn-Montgomery in the Elite Eight on Saturday.

MEN'S SOCCER UPDATES

Chowan advanced in the NCAA Tournament after a 14 round PK shootout against West Florida in the Second Round after a 1-1 draw.  Harri Lovett scored his first goal of the season, while Charlie Farrar saved the PK to send the Hawks to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.

Toby Sims paces the offense with 11 goals on the season, second in the Conference Carolinas.  Harri Lovett has 14 assists, most in the league.  Erik Ruiz has five goals and six assists this season.  James RandallLondon WilliamsSam Hall, and Timo De Graaf have scored four goals each this season.

Charlie Farrar has a 0.92 goals against allowed average this season.

The Hawks are taking a four match unbeaten streak into the contest.

AVOIDING THE SHARK ATTACK

Nova Southeastern is 15-3-2 on the season and on an 11 match unbeaten streak which includes three top-10 victories.  The Sharks are heading to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.

Matty Cornish leads the team with 10 goals on the season.  The Sharks have scored 42 goals this season while limiting their opponent to 21, allowing 1.04 goals per game with seven shutouts.

Nova Southeastern is 9-0-0 away from home this season, this is their first match out of the state of Florida this season.
