MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team opens up the 2021 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship with a rivalry match against Barton in the Opening Round on Wednesday.

WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTES

Chowan finished the regular season on a 3-1-1 streak to post a 5-10-1 overall mark and a 5-6-1 clip in league play to finish seventh in the league standings.  The Hawks are coming off a 3-0 victory against King.

Carolina Lucci and Sabrina Henderson lead the team with 10 goals each.  Henderson paces the team with five assists.  Lucci has scored seven goals in the past five matches.

CAGING THE BULLDOGS

Barton enters the tournament with an 8-5-3 overall record and a 6-3-3 mark in league play.  The Bulldogs picked up the sixth seed in the championship.  The Bulldogs are unbeaten in their last five matches going 3-0-2.

Hailey Russell leads the team with six goals and three assists.  Olivia Bronson and Lexis Goldberg have scored three goals each.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The Hawks and Bulldogs met on October 19 and battled to a 1-1 draw in Murfreesboro.  Chowan is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings including a 3-0 victory against Barton in the Conference Carolinas Tournament in the Spring.
