HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball had a slow start against Division I High Point in an exhibition on Saturday afternoon.

Jay Estime led the Hawks with 10 points. RJ Wilson chipped in with nine points. Chase Barnett and Donavon Martin collected eight points each.
Cheick Traore hauled in six rebounds. Chowan shot 42.6% (23-54) in the contest from the floor.
High Point shot 88.9% (8-9) from behind the arc in the first half, while shooting 50.7% (36-71) from the floor.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
High Point knocked down a three-pointer to start the scoring to spark an 8-0 run. Cheick Traore posted a layup over five minutes in for the first bucket for the Hawks.
Jaylen Dilliard connected from the floor before Donavon Martin hit a jumper in the paint to cut the deficit to 13-6. HPU would go on an 11-2 run as Jay Estime connected from the floor during the offensive stall.
Christian Koonce would end the run with a bucket. Jaylen Dilliard connected from the floor as the Panthers extended their lead to 33-12. RJ Wilson hit a layup before Chase Barnett and Jay Estime posted a bucket to trail 38-18.
Jaylen Dilliard added a bucket prior to Chase Barnett picked up four points. Donavon Martin scored in transition for the final bucket for the Hawks in the half, trailing 49-26 at the half.
Second Half:
Out of the half, Donavon Martin posted an alley-oop off an assist from Chase Barnett. Barnett picked up a point from the stripe on the technical foul free throws.
RJ Wilson connected from deep for the first three-pointer for the Hawks. Wilson added a putback to trim the deficit to 59-34. Cheick Traore finished off the three-point play at the line before Jay Estime connected from deep.
Aaron James knocked down a pair at the stripe before RJ Wilson and James connected from the floor to trail 73-47. The Panthers pushed their lead to 78-47 before Jay Estime knocked down a triple. Donavon Martin and Calvin Ahoume added a bucket.
Calvin Ahoume posted a layup before Akeemis Williams tallied a pair from the stripe and Xavier Young finished off the contest with a driving layup.

Chowan hosts Elizabeth City State on Sunday, November 28 with a non-conference contest. Tip-off is slated for 2pm.
