WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTES

Chowan dropped their season-opener on the road against Elizabeth City State on Tuesday.

Destiny Robinson led the team with a double-double posting 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Aniah Patterson collected 14 points.

CAGING THE PANTHERS

Virginia Union comes into the contest with a 0-1 record after a loss to Shippensburg last week.

Taniah Johnson leads the team with 19 points, while Darryn Zeigler posted 15 points.  Ceanna Kinney hauled in 18 rebounds off the bench.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

Chowan and Virginia Union will meet for the 25th time in the series since 2007.  Both teams have picked up 12 wins each with VUU picking up most of their victories since 2015.  The Hawks are 3-7 in their last ten meetings.  Chowan's last win in Richmond came on January 28, 2017 when the Hawks stunned #2 Virginia Union, 79-75, for the program's first-ever top-five victory.
