MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team hits the road to take on rival Elizabeth City State in the season opener for the Hawks on Tuesday evening.
The contest will be after the Elizabeth City State CIAA Volleyball match at 5:30pm.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTES
Chowan will look to improve upon their exhibition contest against Norfolk State last week. Aniah Patterson paced the Hawks with 13 points. Destiny Robinson and Monique Jones scored in double-figures in the contest. Jones tallied nine rebounds, while Robinson had seven rebounds and four blocks.
TAKING ON THE VIKINGS
Elizabeth City State is 2-0 on the season after a pair of season opening wins in the SIAC/CIAA Challenge over the weekend.
Naterria Luster leads the team with 19.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Shamani Stafford (9.5) and Aniyah Vanhook (8.0) add to the scoring.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
Chowan and Elizabeth City State will meet for the 25 time in the series since 2006 with the Vikings holding a slight 13-11 advantage in the series.
The Hawks are 7-1 in their last eight meetings with the Vikings including a 78-61 victory in the last meeting (Feb. 2, 2019). Chowan has won four of the last five meetings on the road.
