MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The nationally-ranked Chowan Men's Soccer team picked up a 4-0 shutout against Belmont Abbey in a Conference Carolinas contest at home on Saturday afternoon.

Erik Ruiz, Toby Sims, Sam Hall, and Wesley Illes recorded a goal in the match. London Williams, Tren Drexhage, James Randall, and Alejandro Abreu-Cruz notched an assist.
Charlie Farrar recorded one save on two total shots. Devontay Blair, Timo De Graaf, Toby Sims, Dennis Bates, and Harri Lovett helped preserve the shutout.
The Hawks recorded their first win as a nationally-ranked program.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
London Williams posted a shot in the first minutes of the contest hitting the post. Charlie Farrar made his lone save in the 13'.
Erik Ruiz would put the Hawks in front in the 24' as London Williams played the ball towards the middle of the box that was flicked on by Tren Drexhage to the right of the box allowing Ruiz to find the near post for the 1-0 lead.
Second Half:
Tren Drexhage was pulled down in the box in the 60' allowing Toby Sims to finish off the penalty kick to lead 2-0.
Less than a minute later, James Randall found Sam Hall on the left wing, who fired it into the far post netting to lead 3-0.
The Hawks put the finishing touches on the contest in the 88' as Alejandro Abreu-Cruz stole the ball in the attacking third and played a through ball to Wesley Illes, beating the keeper for the 4-0 advantage.
