PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team was unable to slow down the hot footed UNC Pembroke Braves in a 6-2 loss in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday afternoon.

Lillian DeLucca and Cristina Flores registered their first goals of the season. Sabrina Henderson and Carolina Lucci posted an assist in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
UNC Pembroke scored quickly in the contest on their first shot attempt of the match to lead 1-0 just 2:07 into the game.
The Braves would add to their lead in the ninth minute of action with a goal off a free kick.
Allison Traub made a save a minute later before the Braves took a 3-0 lead in the 14'.
Carolina Lucci posted the first shot on frame for the Hawks but was turned away.
Lillian DeLucca and Carolina Lucci posted a pair of shots on frame as the UNCP keeper made saves.
Allison Traub made three saves before halftime.
Second Half:
Cristina Flores posted a shot on frame in the early portion of the half. In the 53', Sabrina Henderson crossed the ball into the box and found Lillian DeLucca for the opening goal for the Hawks to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Kirsten Peterson kept the score at-bay before the Braves used a 3:32 scoring run to post three goals to increase their lead to 6-1.
Cristina Flores found the back of the net on a header as Carolina Lucci crossed a ball in during the 84' to cut the deficit to 6-2.
UP NEXT
Chowan returns home to take on Belmont Abbey on Saturday, October 9. The Hawks will celebrate senior day prior to first touch.
