Hawks Women's Soccer Soar Past Flying Fleet

DUE WEST, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team picked up a dominating 5-0 win against Erskine in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday morning.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Carolina Lucci produced two goals on the afternoon.  Michelle Maksimovic and Cristina Flores also found the back of the net.  Flores tallied two assists, while Maksimovic and Kaitlyn Waterman added an assist.

The Hawks' first goal came on an own goal.

Allison Traub had a quiet morning in goal with two saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Allison Traub collected one save in the ninth minute of action before a pair of shots by Carolina Lucci forced a pair of saves by the Erskine keeper.

Just over a minute later, a cross from the Hawks would find the leg of an Erskine defender and into the back of the net to lead 1-0 in the 12'.

Off a corner kick in the 18', Michelle Maksimovic played a corner into the box and found Cristina Flores.  Flores was able to play the bounce and find the back of the net for the 2-0 advantage.

The Hawks would take the 2-0 lead into the locker room.

Second Half:

Carolina Lucci and Regan Jackson posted a shot on frame early in the half but were turned away.

The Hawks would increase their lead to 3-0 in the 57' as Kaitlyn Waterman played a through ball up to Carolina Lucci, who found the left corner.

Carolina Lucci would find the back of the net for the second time in the half as Cristina Flores found Lucci in the box to lead 4-0 in the 72'.

Allison Traub collected her second save in the 73' before holding Erskine without a shot for the remainder of the contest.

The final goal for the Hawks would come in the 78' as Cristina Flores played a ball in the box that was mishandled by the Erskine keeper allowing Michelle Maksimovic to find the back of the net on the right post.

Chowan will take a step out of league play to take on Wingate in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, October 27.  First touch is at 4pm.
