Hawks Shutout By Regionally Ranked Trojans

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team was shutout against regionally-ranked Mount Olive on the road on Tuesday night in Conference Carolinas action.

Carolina Lucci registered five shot in the contest, while Sabrina Henderson tallied three.

The Hawks managed four shots on frame in the contest.  Mount Olive posted 21 shots total and 10 shots on target.

Allison Traub secured six saves in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Mount Olive put a shot on frame in the opening minutes of the contest that was turned away by Allison Traub.  Traub was forced to make another save in the 11'.

The Trojans found the back of the net in the 15' to lead 1-0.  Carolina Lucci registered the first shot for the Hawks in the 17' but missed high right.

UMO took advantage of a bounce off the crossbar allowing another Trojan attacker to slide one past the keeper in the 20' to lead 2-0.

Sabrina Henderson posted a shot on frame in the 26' but was unable to find the back of the net.

After a corner kick in the 35', Allison Traub made the initial save but the rebound allowed the Trojans to extend their lead to 3-0.

Second Half:

Carolina Lucci tried to start the rally in the 48' as her attempt low left would be saved.  Sabrina Henderson would hit the post in the 57'.

In the 59', Cristina Flores tried to go low right side but was turned away.  Ysa Novak had a shot saved in the 66'.

UP NEXT

The Hawks hit the road looking to end their skid as Chowan travels to Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, October 16.
