MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team posted a single-game high 61 shots to defeat Shorter, 17-10, in the Battle of the Hawks on Sunday afternoon at home.

Patrick Egan tallied a total of nine points (four goals and five assists) to pace the team. Jaxon Martin and Jackson Downs posted four goals and one assist each.
Noah Holloway became the all-time points leader for Chowan picking up five points on one goal and four assists. Austin Lee picked up three goals.
Adam Howard was 15-19 at the face-off spot. Slater Bender made eight saves to pick up the win in cage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Chowan raced out to a 4-0 lead as Jason Jenkins II found Austin Lee just 52 seconds into the contest for the 1-0 advantage. Patrick Egan found Jackson Downs a minute later to lead 2-0 less than two minutes into the game.
Jaxon Martin scored the next two goals with Deven Roberts assisting on the second tally to push the lead to 4-0.
Shorter scored a pair of goals before Patrick Egan scored with 11 ticks left in the quarter to lead 5-2.
Second Quarter:
Noah Holloway found Austin Lee to open the quarter for his 139th career point. Lee found the back of the net again on an assist from Patrick Egan to lead 7-2.
Patrick Egan scored on a Noah Holloway helper to offset the Shorter goals to lead 8-4.
Jackson Downs scored off an assist from Noah Holloway to end the period to lead 9-4 at the intermission.
Third Quarter:
Chowan scored four goals to open the half to lead 13-5. Jackson Downs started the run with a goal off an assist from Noah Holloway. Jaxon Martin and Jason Jenkins II scored off assists from Patrick Egan. Holloway picked up a goal off a pass from Jaxon Martin to end the run.
Shorter scored two goals before Jaxon Martin and Patrick Egan picked up a goal each to stretch the lead to 15-7.
Fourth Quarter:
Shorter inched closer with three goals to trail 15-10. Patrick Egan and Jackson Downs scored two goals within a nine second span to take the victory 17-10.
