MURFREESBORO, N.C. –   The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest against Charleston on Saturday afternoon at home.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Brooke Woods-Pennell and Jordan Nicholson produced two goals each.  Tashana Barnett tallied one goal and one assist.

Karly Timmons and Danielle Henry posted one assist each.  Misten White had six draw controls.

Mallory Dunker took the loss in cage with 14 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Tashana Barnett put the Hawks on the board with the first goal of the contest just three minutes into the game.  Charleston evened the score just a minute later.

Mallory Dunker picked up a couple saves before Charleston took a 2-1 lead.  Jordan Nicholson scored midway through the half to even the score at 2-all.

Brooke Woods-Pennell gave the Hawks a 3-2 advantage off an assist from Tashana Barnett.

Charleston scored four unanswered goals to lead 6-3 at the half.

Second Half:

Charleston opened the scoring in the second half before Brooke Woods-Pennell scored an unassisted tally to close the gap to 7-4.  The Golden Eagles pushed their lead to 9-4 in the first 10 minutes of the half.

Leia Cabradillia scored a woman-up goal off an assist from Karly Timmons before Jordan Nicholson found the back of the net off a pass from Danielle Henry to cut the deficit to 9-6.

Charleston scored three unanswered goals to double up the Hawks 12-6 with 7:44 remaining.

The Hawks would go scoreless down the stretch to fall 12-6.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns to Conference Carolinas action on Saturday as the Hawks travel to Converse for league play on February 22.  Opening draw is at 11am.
