FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team fell short in their attempted comeback with reserve players in a 74-59 loss to Emmanuel on the road in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Jaylen Dilliard led the Hawks with 11 points. BJ McLaurin, and Isaiah Lewis added eight points each. Khalil Ridges chipped in with seven points.
Emmanuel scored 36 of their 42 points in the first half from behind the arc shooting 12-20 from deep. The Lions only hit two triples in the second half.
Chowan finished the final 10 plus minutes of action with "reserve" players as the Hawks trailed by 20-plus points for most of the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
BJ McLaurin put the Hawks on the board with the first points of the contest. Emmanuel would add five quick points before Ja'Darien Wade added a bucket. McLaurin added another bucket to pull within two, 8-6.
Two triples by the Lions pushed their lead to 14-6. Xavier Young and Jamal Thomas answered with back-to-back triples to pull within two, 14-12.
The Lions countered with a 17-2 run with five triples. Michael Kelly added a jumper to slow the run. Xavier Young added a layup, but Emmanuel would answer with another three pointer.
BJ McLaurin added a jumper and Tahkey Williams tallied a bucket for a small run. Jaylen Dilliard added a layup in transition. Emmanuel knocked down a triple to maintain their double-digit advantage despite the small run by the Hawks.
Emmanuel pushed their lead to 20, 42-22, with under a minute to play in the half. BJ McLaurin added a jumper for the final basket of the frame to trail 42-24.
Second Half:
Brandon Mayhan knocked down a triple for the Hawks to open the scoring in the half. Emmanuel picked up where they left off in the first half knocking down another three pointer to offset the Mayhan triple.
The Lions pushed their lead back over 20 holding the Hawks scoreless for over four minutes. Jaylen Dilliard knocked down a triple to end a small run by Emmanuel. Khalil Ridges added a layup after a Dilliard steal to trim the deficit.
Chowan would go on a 12-2 run as Khalil Ridges added a jumper and a triple. Isaiah Lewis knocked a jumper and a four from the stripe. Calvin Ahoume added a jumper and 1-2 from the stripe during the run to trim the deficit to 58-47.
Emmanuel added a point from the stripe before Jaylen Dilliard knocked down a jumper to continue the comeback. Ugljesa Portic cut the deficit to single-digits with a triple and Isaiah Lewis added a layup to close the gap to 60-54 with 5:09 remaining.
The Lions ended the run with a three pointer. Chowan would be sent to the charity stripe but were unable to gain ground missing four straight. Tahkey Williams recorded a layup as the Lions added points at the stripe. Emmanuel pushed their lead back to double-figures with a three-point play with just under three minutes to play, 68-56.
Jaylen Dilliard knocked down a long-two as Chowan called timeout. The Lions held on to their lead converting from the charity stripe down the stretch.

Chowan will look to pick up the season sweep against rival, Mount Olive, on Wednesday, January 8 as the Hawks make the trip to take on the Trojans in Conference Carolinas action.
