CENTRAL, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team battled back to even the match up and settled for a draw against Southern Wesleyan in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Chowan peppered the cage to outshot Southern Wesleyan 24-13. The Hawks were able to post 12 shots on target and notched six corner kicks.
Carolina Lucci led the team with three points grabbing a goal and an assist. Shannon Park found the equalizer for her first collegiate goal.
Lucci, Sydney Henderson and Sierra Gonzalez posted five shots each in the contest.
Lynzie Hulle recorded seven saves in the draw.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Both teams recorded a shot on frame before the scoring happened. Following a shot on target by the Warriors, Karissa Grooms posted a shot in the bottom right corner but was saved.
In the 14' Carolina Lucci broke away near midfield and buried the shot into the left corner to open the scoring for the Hawks.
Lynzie Hulle kept the Warriors from scoring in the first have with three saves.
Second Half:
Southern Wesleyan would shift the momentum in the second half as they would find the equalizer in the 58'. Ysa Novak would post a shot for the Hawks before the Warriors would go up 2-1 in the 61'.
With time running late in the half, Carolina Lucci finds Shannon Park in the middle of the box. Novak distributed the pass into the bottom left corner to even the match at 2-all in the 79'.
SWU looked to take the advantage in the 86' but Lynzie Hulle would charge off her line and halt the attack. The Warriors had another chance in the 88', but the back line defense of the Hawks kept the match level.
Stephanie Quintanilla and Sierra Gonzalez posted shots in the final minute of regulation but were turned away to force overtime.
Overtime:
Chowan was on the front foot during the first overtime period getting three shots off early. Sierra Gonzalez looked to go bottom corner but was unable to sneak it past the keeper.
SWU had a chance in the 100' but Lynzie Hulle stopped the attempt to send it to the second overtime.
Sydney Henderson blasted a shot over the crossbar in the 103' for the first attempt for the Hawks in the second overtime.
Carolina Lucci ripped a last ditch effort as the horn sounded but was unable to get it past the SWU keeper.
