Chowan Soccer Heads To SWU For League Play

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team is in search of their first win of the young season as the Hawks welcome UNC Pembroke to Hawks Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Women's Soccer

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan is still searching for their first win of the season after competing in their first three matches against regionally ranked opponents.  The Hawks are 0-3-0 on the season and 0-1-0 in Conference Carolinas play.

Sierra Gonzalez scored the first goal of the season for Chowan in a tough 2-1 loss to UNC Pembroke during the week.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS
Southern Wesleyan enters the contest with a 2-1-1 overall record and a 1-0-0 mark in league play.  The Warriors picked up a 3-2 win over Lees-McRae on Saturday before battling to a draw against Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday.

Returning all-conference selection, Ashley Romanowski leads the team with four goals and 10 points.  Bryanna Pickens has found the back of the net three times.

Jen Golio has kept the ball out of the net for SWU averaging 1.85 goals allowed per game.

Men's Soccer

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
For Chowan, this will be their first league game of the season as the Hawks have a 1-1-0 overall record.  Chowan has had almost a week of rest coming off a 5-0 shutout against Shaw on Sept. 15.

Harry Ardron, last season's Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, leads the team with two goals.  Sam Hall has scored twice this season.

Ross Miller started the match against Shaw posting a shutout.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS
SWU snapped a three match losing streak this week with a shutout win against USC Aiken.  The Warriors are 1-3-0 on the season and 0-1-0 in league play.  The Warriors found the back of the net for the first time this season in the win over USC Aiken.

The Warriors have been outscored 13-2 in their four matches.  Grant Kiker and Noah Sims have one goal each.
