MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Lindsey Stigler's grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning prevailed the Hawks to a doubleheader split against the visiting Bulldogs in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORES
Lindsey Stigler went 3-6 at the plate with five RBI. Stigler went 2-3 with a grand slam and five RBI in the win. Jesse Gentry went 4-7 at the plate picked up three hits (two doubles) in the night cap.
Haley Cooper would record three hits in the split with a double. Miranda Glover hit a home run in the first game.
EmaRae Flores picked up the win with a complete game. The Hawks were hindered by 14 free passes in the early game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 4, Barton 14 (six innings)
Barton scored in the opening frame of the contest as three walks in the inning plated a run, 1-0. The Bulldogs pushed their lead to 7-0 in the second as six walks and an error led to a 5-0 lead. Barton recorded a one hit in the inning for the early advantage.
Beth Walker drew a walk in the first inning and Serena Riley picked up the first hit for the Hawks in the second.
The Bulldogs pushed their advantage to 10-0 in the third inning on four hits. Hannah Naifeh teamed up with Miranda Glover to throw a runner out at the plate in the inning.
Haley Cooper and Jesse Gentry picked up a hit in the third inning but would be left stranded. The Hawks were able to get on the board in the fourth inning as Brittany Parson led off the inning with a single. Serena Riley reached on a fielder's choice as a muffed throw allowed Parson to be safe at second. Hannah Naifeh doubled home Parson and Riley to cut into the deficit 10-2.
Lindsey Stigler produced a one-out single in the fifth inning before coming around to score on Miranda Glover's home run to left center.
Barton added four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the 14-4 victory.
Game Two: Chowan 8, Barton 6
Barton loaded the bases in the top of the first inning, but EmaRae Flores shut the door with a ground out to end the inning.
The Bulldogs would crack the scoreboard in the second inning with four hits to lead 3-0.
Chowan looked to rally in the second inning as Lindsey Stigler was hit by a pitch. Miranda Glover singled down the left field line and moved to second on the throw. Hannah Naifeh reached on a catcher's interference but would be left stranded.
Barton added a tally in the third inning before the Hawks' rally in the bottom of the inning. Beth Walker started off the inning with a one-out walk. Jesse Gentry doubled before Lindsey Stigler picked up a RBI single. Miranda Glover reached on an error to score Gentry. EmaRae Flores singled home Stigler to cut the deficit to 4-3. Hannah Naifeh once again reached on a catcher's interference to load the bases but would be left stranded.
Haley Cooper and Jesse Gentry picked up doubles in the fourth inning to even the score at four-all.
The Hawks continued to fight in the contest as Haley Cooper singled with one out to spark a rally. Beth Walker drew a walk and Jesse Gentry singled up the middle to load the bases. Following a mound visit, Lindsey Stigler promptly put the first pitch she saw over the wall in left center for a grand slam and gave the Hawks an 8-4 lead.
The Bulldogs would not go away quietly loading the bases and plating two runs. EmaRae Flores picked up the fly out to end the contest to take the 8-6 victory.
