WEST CHESTER, PA. – The Chowan Softball team dropped a pair against regional power, West Chester, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Jesse Gentry led the Hawks in the first contest with two home runs and three RBI.
Lindsey Stigler picked up three hits in the night cap with two doubles. Beth Walker hit a home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 4, West Chester 9
West Chester took a three run lead in the bottom of the first inning as two walks and two hits in the inning sparked the rally.
Jesse Gentry put the Hawks on the board in the second with her first collegiate home run with a solo shot to left center, 3-1.
An error in the second inning pushed the advantage to 4-1 for the Golden Rams.
The Hawks answered in the fourth inning as Brittany Parson reached on an error. Jesse Gentry hit her second home run of the contest to cut the deficit to 4-3.
West Chester extended their lead in the bottom of the inning on two hits and an error to lead 7-3.
Beth Walker notched a home run in the fifth inning to close the gap to 7-4.
The Golden Rams pushed across two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead 9-4.
Miranda Glover doubled in the sixth but would be left stranded.
Game Two: Chowan 1, West Chester 9 (five innings)
The Hawks posted a run in the top of the first inning as Brittany Parson reached on an error with two outs. Lindsey Stigler singled before Miranda Glover picked up a RBI single to plate the opening run.
Shannon Buchanan and Mackenzie Taggart reached on errors in the second inning. Beth Walker loaded the bases with a walk but the Golden Rams pitched out of the jam with two flyouts.
West Chester evened the score in the bottom of the second with a RBI double, 1-1.
Lindsey Stigler doubled to lead off the third inning. Leah Spiggle singled on a bunt. Two groundouts ended the threat.
WCUPA took advantage of an error in the inning to push ahead, 5-1, in the third. The Golden Rams added three runs on two home runs in the fourth inning. West Chester would push across the final tally in the fifth inning for the run-rule victory, 9-1.
