ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team dropped their fourth straight contest in an 84-76 loss to CIAA Northern Division rival Elizabeth City State on Saturday afternoon.

Timothy Bing led the Hawks with 19 points on 6-12 shooting. Gus Rowland added 17 points, while Demetrius Sanders and Michael Kelly recorded 14 points each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Gus Rowland knocked down a triple before Deon Joyner's two freebies evened the score early, 5-5. Rowland and Demetrius Sanders connected from deep to trail 12-11. Sanders knocked down another trey before the Vikings extended their lead to 20-14.
Brandon Mayhan and Demetrius Sanders added a basket before a triple by Timothy Bing and a layup by Gus Rowland closed the gap to 25-23.
Michael Kelly posted a bucket but the Vikings countered with a 6-0 run to lead 34-25. Gus Rowland capped off a three-point play but was quickly offset by an ECSU run.
Timothy Bing and Gus Rowland picked up points at the stripe as the Hawks went into the locker room down 44-32.
Second Half:
Deon Joyner sparked a rally out of the break with back-to-back buckets. Michael Kelly added a jumper to trim the deficit in half, 44-38.
Michael Kelly and Gus Rowland kept the deficit at six with a pair of baskets. The Hawks would go on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to two, 54-52, midway through the half. Deon Joyner started the run with a layup. Gus Rowland and Demetrius Sanders added a layup in the run.
Timothy Bing knocked down two three-pointers and a jumper to even the score at 61-all with 5:44 remaining. ECSU went on an 11-2 run to give the Vikings separation, 72-63.
Both teams exchanged buckets with Demetrius Sanders and Xavier Young recorded layups and Michael Kelly knocked down a triple to bring the score to 78-70 with a minute to play.
Timothy Bing added a three-point play and a three pointer to close the gap to 80-76. The Vikings would salt away the victory at the stripe.
