MURFREESBORO, N.C.-The Chowan Women's Tennis team took a 6-1 loss in their season opener to Division I Longwood University on Friday afternoon.

ON THE COURTS
In Doubles:

• Cynthia Carrier and Arina Karbolina took on No. 1 doubles for the Hawks coming up short 6-1.
• Julieta Lecce and Angelique Gouin was unable to beat the Lancers at the No.2 doubles 6-0.
• Longwood claimed the No.3 doubles victory by default from Chowan.

In Singles:

• Heading into singles play, Cynthia Carrier dropped the No.1 singles 6-3, 6-1, before Arina Karbolina fell to the Lancers 6-0, 6-2 at the second singles seed.
• Julieta Lecce was unable to secure the third singles 6-1, 6-2 win to Longwood.
• Angelique Gouin recovered for the Blue and White at the No.4 singles 1-6, 4-3 by a forfeit from Longwood.
• Claire Revelle slipped in the fifth singles play 6-0, 6-0. The Lancers grabbed the No.6 singles by default form Chowan. 

UP NEXT
The Hawks will travel to Mount Olive, N.C. on February 19 to take on the Trojans of Mount Olive in conference play. Match is set to start at 2:00pm.
