MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team dropped a pair on the road against Mount Olive in non-conference action on Wednesday.

Mackenzie Taggart led the way with two hits on the afternoon with a walk and a stolen base.
Haley Cooper picked up a hit and a walk in the first game. Beth Walker notched a RBI double. Lindsey Stigler posted a single.
Donya Salman recorded a hit in the nightcap.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 1, Mount Olive 6
Haley Cooper picked up the first hit of the contest in the top of the first inning with a single up the middle.
Mount Olive took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on three hits. The Trojans would tack on a run in the second and third innings to lead 4-0.
The Hawks had a hard time finding their groove at the plate as the Trojan pitcher kept the Hawks off balance.
Haley Cooper drew a walk in her second at-bat but the Trojans would keep the Hawks off the board. Mount Olive scratched across two more runs in the fifth inning to lead 6-0.
Mackenzie Taggart would record the second hit of the contest with an infield single to the pitcher. Taggart would swipe second before Beth Walker doubled down the left field line to put the Hawks on the board, 6-1.
Lindsey Stigler picked up a hit in the top of the seventh but was unable to post a run on the board.
Game Two: Chowan 0, Mount Olive 12 (5)
Mackenzie Taggart started off the contest with a walk and swiped second base. Taggart would move to third on Haley Cooper's ground out. Beth Walker would be hit by a pitch and Brittany Parson drew a walk with one out. The Hawks were unable to get on the board in the opening inning.
Mount Olive capitalized in the bottom half of the inning plating seven runs on four hits and three walks.
Once again the Hawks would make some noise but were unable to convert. Donya Salman singled up the middle and swipe second base. Mikayla Luskin walked and Mackenzie Taggart reached on an infield single to load the bases with one out.
The Trojans added a run in the second and the third inning to lead 9-0. UMO pushed their advantage to 12-0 in the bottom of the fourth on five hits.
Beth Walker would draw a walk in the fifth but was left stranded.
