HAWKS FILES – Women's Basketball
Chowan will look to be more efficient shooting the ball heading into their final two games of 2019 as the Hawks dropped to 1-7 on the season and 1-3 in Conference Carolinas action with a subpar shooting performance in a loss to Erskine.
Demetria Bland and Mariah Coker lead the team in scoring with 12.1 and 11.5 points per game respectively. Coker is averaging 4.4 assists per game and is approaching milestone marks quickly. The senior is 109 points away from 1000 points, 5 assists shy of Chowan's DII mark, and 80 assists shy of Chowan's all-time mark.
CAGING THE BULLDOGS
Barton is 6-3 on the season and 3-1 in league action. The Bulldogs are coming off a dominant win over King on Saturday, 78-41.
Shanika Peterkin leads the team with 15.0 points per game and 12.3 rebounds. Akira Wiggins and Jami Tham-Morrobel are in double-figures with 14.0 and 11.3 points respectively.
DENYING THE VALKYRIES
Converse enters the week with a 1-11 overall record and a 0-3 mark in league play. The Valkyries have lost their last 11 games since opening the season with a win. Converse is coming off a one point loss to North Greenville.
The Valkyries have balanced scoring of their 54.0 points per game as Alexis McMillian leads the team with 7.4 points per game. Three players average around 6.0 points per night.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS – Men's Basketball
Chowan slipped to 4-5 on the year and 1-3 in league play after turnovers and a scoring drought allowed Erskine to fly away with the win.
Ja'Darien Wade continues to be a stat sheet stuffer posting 17.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. BJ McLaurin still averages a double-double a game with 15.0 points and 11.8 rebounds. McLaurin continues to lead the Conference Carolinas in rebounds per game.
Jaylen Dilliard chips in with 13.0 points per game, while Tahkey Williams slipped to 9.9 points a night.
LEASHING THE BULLDOGS
Barton enters the contest with a 4-7 overall record and a 2-2 mark in league action. The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back losses in league play.
The Bulldogs are led by Isaiah Reddish averaging 20.2 points per game. Michael Boykin and Isaiah Buck-Lowman are averaging 15.1 and 14.7 points respectively.
