MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team had the hot hand on Tuesday night as the Hawks blew out the Mount Olive Trojans 95-63 in Conference Carolinas action.

Chowan shot a blistering 58.5% from the floor including 60% in the first half and held Mount Olive to 28.1% shooting for the contest.
BJ McLaurin added another double-double to his total with a career-high 23 points and 15 rebounds. Trejvon McFail came off the bench and scored 14 points. Jaylen Dilliard chipped in with 18 points, only miss was from the free throw line (11-12).
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Mount Olive would net the first bucket of the contest, but the Hawks would go on a 13-2 run to lead 13-4 and force an UMO timeout. BJ McLaurin started the run with a putback layup followed by a jumper by Ja'Darien Wade and a three pointer by Jaylen Dilliard.
BJ McLaurin added the next six points to force the timeout by the Trojans. UMO would cut the deficit to five, 13-8, but a layup by Ja'Darien Wade and Tahkey Williams kept the Trojans at-bay.
Midway through the half, Chowan would open up the contest as Tahkey Williams recorded back-to-back layups. Trejvon McFail added a jumper to push the lead to double-figures, 24-14.
The Trojans cut into the deficit with a 7-1 run. Back-to-back three pointers by Trejvon McFail and a Brandon Mayhan connection from deep pushed the lead to 16, 39-23.
Brandon Mayhan connected once again from deep and added a layup. Jamal Thomas finished off the scoring in the half to lead 46-25.
Second Half:
Ja'Darien Wade and BJ McLaurin kept the advantage at 20 early in the half with a pair of buckets. Jaylen Dilliard went 4-4 from the line to maintain the advantage.
The Trojans would start chipping away at the deficit midway through the half as UMO cut the Hawk lead to eight, 56-48 with 11:45 to go.
Tahkey Williams and Jaylen Dilliard continued to put the Hawks at a double-digit advantage. Trejvon McFail knocked down another three pointer to push the lead to 16, 72-56.
The final 7:45 of the contest would be all Chowan going on a 23-5 run including 12-14 from the free throw line. Tahkey Williams started the run with a layup. Jaylen Dilliard continued the run with a jumper along with a jumper by Jamal Thomas for the and-one.
A foul and a technical foul would aid in the blow out as Jaylen Dilliard went 4-4 on the possession from the line to push the lead to 24, 84-60. Ja'Darien Wade added the three-point play along with two more freebies by Dilliard.
Chowan emptied their bench with about two minutes to play. Ta'Sean Young connected from deep for the final points of the contest.
