HAWKS FILES – Women's Basketball
Chowan earned their first win of the season with a tough win against North Greenville over the weekend to move to 1-3 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
Mariah Coker leads the Hawks with 15.0 points a night after pouring in a season-high 23 points in the loss against Francis Marion last week. Demetria Bland jumped to second on the team in scoring with 10.5 points a game after her 30 point outing in the win over North Greenville. Monique Jones is averaging 8.8 points and 7.3 rebounds.
CAPTURING THE TROJANS
Mount Olive enters the contest with a 3-1 overall record and is 1-0 in league play. The Trojans are coming off a 30 point win over Southern Wesleyan to start conference play.
Azariah Fields leads the team averaging 19.8 points per game. Hope Toliver chips in with 12.3 points a night.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS – Men's Basketball
Chowan took a tough loss to North Greenville over the weekend to fall to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in league play. The Hawks fell 83-81 and had a chance to tie the contest at the end despite allowing 17 made threes.
Ja'Darien Wade leads the team with 19.8 points, while Tahkey Williams (12.4), BJ McLaurin (12.4), and Jaylen Dilliard (11.8) are in double-figures.
BJ McLaurin is averaging a double-double on the season adding 12.2 rebounds to his point total. McLaurin also leads the Conference Carolinas in rebounds per game.
PLOTTING THE TROJAN ATTACK
Mount Olive is 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in league play. The Trojans were regionally ranked but have lost their last two games and three of the last four.
Jonathan Mebane paces the team with 16.3 points a game. Johnny Hughes, Cameron Robinson and Alan Treakle are averaging double-figures. Hughes is the team's leading rebounder with 8.7 a game.
