MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team jumped back into the win column with a win against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Wednesday evening.

BJ McLaurin recorded his first double-double of his career with a career-high 18 points and 15 rebounds. Ja'Darien Wade led the team with 22 points. Tahkey Williams and Brandon Mayhan chipped in with 15 and 10 points respectively.
The Hawks got to the charity stripe 33 times on the evening but was only able to convert 60.6%.
Chowan assisted on 19 of their 30 made baskets with BJ McLaurin and Brandon Mayhan with five assists each. McLaurin recorded five blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
BJ McLaurin started the scoring off with a putback. Tahkey Williams added back-to-back three pointers to put the Hawks up 8-5.
Mid-Atlantic Christian would not go away throughout the contest as three points by BJ McLaurin allowed the Hawks to lead 12-9. MACU took the lead 15-14 before Jamal Thomas knocked down a three pointer to give the lead back to Chowan.
Tied at 19-all, a 9-2 run by the Hawks pushed the lead to 28-21. Ja'Darien Wade started the run with a jumper. Xavier Young added a three pointer and a jumper and Isaiah Lewis added two points from the stripe.
Ja'Darien Wade added two buckets, but the Mustangs would cut the deficit to three, 32-29 and force a timeout. Tahkey Williams and Jaylen Dilliard added jumpers to push the advantage to nine, 38-29, with 3:04 remaining in the half.
The lead would increase to 11 as Ja'Darien Wade knocked down a three pointer followed by A BJ McLaurin jumper and a three-ball by Brandon Mayhan at the buzzer to send Chowan into the locker room with a 47-36 lead.
Second Half:
Chowan maintained their double-digit lead early with buckets by Ja'Darien Wade, BJ McLaurin and Xavier Young. The Mustangs cut into the deficit, 59-54, to force a Chowan timeout.
BJ McLaurin ended the offensive stall with a putback layup. The Mustangs would not give up that easily as a three pointer evened the score at 63-all with 9:43 remaining. Tahkey Williams connected from deep on the next possession to give the Hawks the lead back.
BJ McLaurin added the next four points and Jaylen Dilliard tallied three along with two free throws by Brandon Mayhan pushed the lead back to double-figures, 75-65.
Free throws down the stretch did not adjust the lead that much for the Hawks until Brandon Mayhan hit a jumper and went 1-2 from the stripe to push the lead to 12, 84-72.
Chowan would fend off the rally to take the victory 87-77.
