MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team suffered a tough 2-1 loss at home on senior day to Emmanuel on Saturday afternoon.

Karissa Grooms scored her first collegiate goal.
Chowan outshot the Lions 11-6 and 6-3 on target.
Lyznie Hulle recorded one save.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Emmanuel would strike quickly as the Lions took a 1-0 lead just 2:12 into the match.
Stephanie Quintanilla would record the first shot for the Hawks in the 14', but the headed attempt sailed high.
The Hawks would not record another shot until the 45' as Lillian DeLucca's attempt was saved.
Second Half:
The Hawks would look to get on the board early in the half as Sabrina Henderson had an attempt sail high and one that was saved.
Carolinas Lucci put a shot on frame but bounced off the post in the 54'.
Karissa Grooms would put the Hawks on the board with the equalizer as the first attempt was blocked. Grooms would put it into the far right post in the 71'.
The score would not stay tied long as Emmanuel found the game-winning goal in the 80'.
Sydney Henderson, Sierra Gonzalez, and Carolina Lucci put a shot on target late in regulation but were all denied by the Lions' keeper.

Chowan will be the seventh seed in the Conference Carolinas tournament that starts on Saturday, November 9. The Hawks will await to see who becomes the second seed between Belmont Abbey and Barton.
