MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team finished off their season with a straight sets loss to Barton at home on Saturday afternoon.

Anixa Rosa-Martinez led the charge with seven kills. Hannah Sladick chipped in with six kills, while Ann-Marie Johnson added five.
Katie Houston produced 18 digs and Sydney Hiner helped with 12 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Sydney Hiner put the Hawks on the board with a kill. Hiner, Ann-Marie Johnson, and Alyssa Carroll tallied a kill each to even the score at 7-all.
Both teams continued to stay close as Anixa Rosa-Martinez, Alyssa Carroll, and Chloe Putnam registered a kill each. Ciara Ortega notched a service ace to trail 12-11.
Barton pushed their advantage to 19-13, but the Hawks would make a run with a kill by Alyssa Caroll and Anixa Rosa-Martinez. Sydney Hiner and Ann-Marie Johnson posted an ace to pull the Hawks to within three, 20-17.
Chloe Putnam and Ann-Marie Johnson added a kill down the stretch as Barton took the opening set 25-21.
Second Set:
Barton jumped out to a 7-3 advantage as Hannah Sladick recorded two kills for the Hawks.
Chowan started to chip away at the deficit with a kill by Alyssa Carroll and Anixa Rosa-Martinez, 11-9.
The Hawks took the lead slightly, 17-16 after Hannah Sladick's kill sparked a rally. Alyssa Carroll and Ann-Marie Johnson teamed up for a block and Sydney Hiner and Johnson posted a kill.
Barton regained their advantage to force a timeout. Hannah Sladick produced a kill down the stretch before Barton took the set 25-20.
Third Set:
The Hawks held strong early in the set as Nyah Powers rejected an attack and Hannah Sladick produced two kills. Anixa Rosa-Martinez added a kill before the Bulldogs pulled away with 12 straight points to lead 22-5.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Sydney Hiner added a kill to finish off the match to fall 25-10.
