Chowan finished the 2018-19 season with a 13-15 overall record. The Hawks were picked to finish seventh in the Conference Carolinas.
The Hawks will have to fill the shoes of the two leading scorers from last season, Danielle Weldon and Jada Lee, both graduated. Mariah Coker returns as the leading scorer with 9.1 points a game. Olivia Gaither chipped in with 7.0 points.
Coach LaToya Jones brought in some players that will help the team. Demetria Bland, Jazmine Davis, Icez Barnett, Emaree Hinton, Aniah Patterson, Keibra Hopkins, Monique Jones, and Brelynn Young.
GROUNDING THE NIGHTHAWKS
North Georgia entered the season ranked in the top-25 after posting a 30-5 overall record last season and a trip to the NCAA DII Elite Eight. This season UNG is 2-0 to start.
The Nighthawks have four players in double-figures as Julianne Sutton leads the team with 12.5 points. Faith Arthur (11.5), Kara Groover (11.0), and Kyra Davis (10.5) average double-figures.
UNG is averaging 76.0 points a game shooting 48.6% from the floor and 41.3% from behind the arc.
BOBCAT PROWL
Georgia College will look to bounce back from a 10-19 overall record a season ago as the team has started this season with a 0-2 start.
The Bobcats are averaging 62.0 points a game this season led by Caroline Wysocki with 16.5 points off the bench. Keyonna Wesley and Harper Vick average 12.0 and 11.0 points respectively.
