Hawks Shutout At Home Against Rival Barton

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team remained winless on the season as rival Barton shutout the Hawks in front of the home crowd in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday afternoon.

Barton held the slight advantage in shots, 11-10, but both sides recorded four shots on target.

Carolina Lucci posted five shots in the contest with three of those on frame.  Sabrina Henderson registered the other tally on goal.

Lynzie Hulle allowed two goals and stopped the other two attempts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Chowan went on the attack early as Sabrina Henderson ripped a shot towards cage just 2:09 into the match.  Emily Trueman would sail one over the crossbar in the 12'.

Barton countered in the 17' as a ball from out wide was played to the middle and found the upper corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Carolina Lucci would post a shot on frame in the 31' but was denied by the Bulldog keeper.

Shannon Park and Carolina Lucci would record shots late in the half but were far right.

Second Half:

Lynzie Hulle would keep it a one goal contest in the 71' stopping the Bulldog attack.  Two minutes later, Carolina Lucci nearly evened the match but was turned away.

A flurry of shots by the Hawks were unable to find the back of the net in the final minutes of the contest as Carolina Lucci's attempt was saved and Sabrina Henderson sailed her attempt wide.

Barton would post an insurance goal in the 89' to take the victory 2-0.

UP NEXT

Chowan will host perennial league power, Belmont Abbey, on Saturday, October 5.  First touch is slated for 1pm.
