Chowan's defense was gashed for 608 total yards including 487 yards on the ground.
Fayetteville State forced four turnovers with two interceptions and two fumbles.
The Hawks would take a 7-3 lead before the Broncos scored 28 unanswered points to pull away before halftime.
RECORD UPDATING
Bryce Witt continues to extend his career record with 60 passing touchdowns. Witt's rushing attack against McKendree made him the first Chowan quarterback to rush for over 1,000 yards and sits eighth all-time with 1,170 yards.
Witt is inching closer to the all-time passing yardage mark needing 154 more yards to pass Cameron Stover.

COLLARING THE BULLDOGS
Bowie State has climbed up the rankings to enter the contest ranked #18 in the country. The Bulldogs are 5-0 this season and 2-0 in CIAA action.
The preseason favorite to win the CIAA, had some question marks coming into the season after the departure of Amir Hall at quarterback. The tandem of Ja'rome Johnson and Gaston Cooper has fared will for the Bulldogs tossing 10 touchdowns for 903 yards.
BSU uses a running back by committee recording 215.6 yards per game on the ground led by Ja'rome Johnson with 75.2 yards per game. Calil Wilkens and Derrick Kittrell average 50+ yards per game each.
The Bulldogs get in the backfield and disrupt play as the team has 54 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. Joshua Pryor leads the defense with 10.5 TFLs and 4.0 sacks.
IN THE SERIES
This will be the 10th overall meeting between the Hawks and Bulldogs in the series. Bowie State holds the lead 6-3. Chowan came out with a vengeance last season taking the victory at home 42-23.
Prior to the previous two meetings, the contests in 2015 and 2016 were decided by a touchdown or less. Bowie State dominated the last meeting in Bowie, Md. winning 41-10. Chowan is 2-2 at Bowie in the series.
