MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's and Women's Basketball teams hit the road for their first CIAA trip of the season as the Hawks will face Johnson C. Smith, Winston-Salem State, and Livingstone.

HAWKS FILES – WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Chowan hits the road with an 8-5 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the CIAA this season. The Hawks are coming off their lowest scoring output of the season in a 48-37 loss to Catawba.
Danielle Weldon and Jada Lee lead the scoring with 13.5 and 10.2 points per game. Mariah Coker (9.2), Olivia Gaither (7.6) and Jordan Pettaway (7.2) round out the top-five scoring for the Hawks.
HAWKS SOARING HIGH – MEN'S BASKETBALL
Chowan continues to play at a high-level sporting a 10-1 overall record and a 3-0 mark in the CIAA. The Hawks are ranked 10th in the D2SIDA poll and receiving votes in the NABC national poll.
Demetrius Sanders leads the team with 17.0 points a game. Timothy Bing is a close second at 16.7 points, while Gus Rowland and Michael Kelly round out the scoring at 15.1 and 12.4 points a night.
Gus Rowland leads the CIAA with 7.4 assists per contests and is fourth in the NCAA.
AVOIDING THE STAMPEDE
On the women's side, Johnson C. Smith is 4-9 overall and 1-2 in the CIAA. The former CIAA Champions have lost their last two contests and coming off a 77-38 loss on the road to Virginia Union.
Malia Rivers leads the team with 8.3 points per game.
The Golden Bulls men's team is 2-7 this season and winless (0-3) in the CIAA. JCSU has lost their last four contests.
Roddric Ross and Cayse Minor lead the team with 13.7 and 13.6 points per game.
RAMMING THE RAMS
Winston-Salem State is 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the CIAA. The Rams are coming off a victory against Claflin to start the 2019 year and will host Virginia State on Thursday before welcoming the Hawks.
Brionna Pate, Amaya Tucker, and Teara Johnson are in double-figures for the Lady Rams.
The men are 6-5 overall and 1-2 this season. The Rams are 3-0 at home this season. WSSU picked up the win against Claflin.
Robert Colon leads the Rams at 19.4 points per game.
CAGING THE BLUE BEARS
Livingstone women are 3-10 this season and 0-3 in the CIAA. The Blue Bears have lost seven straight contests but are 3-0 at home this season. Livingstone has not won since November 21 in an 80-76 win over Belmont Abbey (their last home contest).
Daisa Harris paces the Blue Bears with 20.8 points a contests.
The Blue Bear men are 6-5 this season and 0-3 in the CIAA. Livingstone has lost their last three games, all on the road.
Roger Ray leads the scoring for Livingstone at 17.0 points a game.
Livingstone will host Elizabeth City State and Virginia State prior to the meeting with the Hawks.
