NEWBERRY, S.C. – The regionally ranked Chowan Men's Soccer team used the early momentum of two first half goals to down Newberry on the road, 5-3, on Tuesday afternoon.

Harry Garstang scored twice in the contest with two first half penalty kick goals. Garstang's first goal marked the fifth fastest goal in program history, just 64 seconds into the match.
Trevin Myers, Harry Ardron, and Erik Ruiz found the back of the net in the second half.
Mitchell Levi Lewis and Lee Wattam were credited with an assist.
Chowan outpaced the Wolves 22-14 in shots and 15-8 in on target attempts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Chowan went on attack early as the Hawks were given a penalty kick just 64 seconds into the match. Harry Garstang lined up the penalty kick and successfully found the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead.
The Hawks continued to push forward as Denis Roule's attempt was denied in the seventh minute.
Chowan went on a counter attack as Trevin Myers was all alone in the middle of the box. The Newberry keeper caught Myers and was given a yellow card. Harry Garstang once again converted the penalty kick in the 18' for the 2-0 advantage.
Newberry would find the back of the net in the 27' to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Second Half:
The Wolves found the equalizer early in the second half on a deflection off the initial save by Elliot Chadderton.
Chowan did not take long to put across a goal as Erik Ruiz found the back of the net from the left wing slotting the shot far post in the 55'.
Chowan's attack would continue as Lee Wattam found Harry Ardron in the middle of the box. Ardron would use the back heel to find the near post for the 4-2 lead.
Harry Ardron nearly found his second goal of the match from the left wing but the Newberry netminder snagged the attempt before crossing the line.
The Hawks added to their lead in the 75' off a set piece. Mitchell Levi Lewis curled in a corner kick and found the foot of Trevin Myers for the goal in front of cage.
Newberry would close the gap to 5-3 on a counter attack but the Chowan defense held firm to end the match.
