WINGATE, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback on the road against regionally ranked Wingate in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Carolina Lucci recorded four shots in the contest with three on frame.  Sydney Henderson and Sabrina Henderson posted three shots each.  Sabrina Henderson found the target once.

Olivia Borer faced 15 shots on the afternoon stopping five shots and allowed two goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Sydney Lenhardt recorded the first shot for the Hawks in the 11', but her attempt was blocked.

In the 18', Carolina Lucci posted her first shot on target from distance but was denied by the Bulldog netminder.  Sabrina Henderson had a shot saved in the 22' of action.

Chowan's defense was able to thwart the Bulldog attack after four corner attempts.  Wingate was able to break through in the 33' as the Bulldogs found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Carolina Lucci and Sabrina Henderson had attempts late in the half but was saved and blocked.

Second Half:

The defense for the Hawks continued to weather the Bulldog attack early in the second half.  Chowan countered with two shots by Carolina Lucci and Sydney Henderson.

In the 60', Olivia Borer made back-to-back saves to keep the match at 1-0.

Wingate continued to attack and grabbed three more corner kicks.  In the 70', Wingate would push their advantage to 2-0 where the score would stand.
