MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer team garnered their first league win in a tough 2-1 battle against Southern Wesleyan at home in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Denis Roule and Toby Sims found the back of the net for the Hawks. Sims' header in the second half was the game-winner.
Mitchell Levi Lewis assisted on both goals for the Hawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Chowan struck first in the early minutes of the match as Mitchell Levi Lewis' cross bounced across the face of the goal and found the foot of Denis Roule in the sixth minute for the 1-0 lead.
Southern Wesleyan would find the equalizer in the 17'.
Despite outshooting the Warriors in the half and the contest, 22-4, Chowan and Southern Wesleyan went into the half tied at 1-all.
Second Half:
Midway through the half, the Hawks would push forward with the attack as Mitchell Levi Lewis would send a cross in from the right wing to find the streaking Toby Sims for the free header. Sims' header would bounce off the keeper's shoulder and trickle past the line for the goal.
Chowan continued to look for an insurance goal late in the match but attempts by Harry Garstang and Trevin Myers would be denied by the Warriors' keeper.
