PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team dropped their 2018 season opener, 1-0, to 2017 NCAA Participant, UNC Pembroke, on Thursday evening on the road.

Chowan was outshot 17-6 in the loss. UNCP led in the corner kick department, 6-0.
Carolina Lucci led the Hawks with three shots. Rebekah Langley, Sierra Gonzalez, and Sabrina Henderson tallied a shot.
Olivia Borer posted six saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half:
Chowan and UNCP battled back-and-forth in the opening half until the Braves found the lone goal in the contest in the 29' off a corner. The Braves were able to capitalize on a deflection to find the back post.
Carolina Lucci tallied the only shot in the half for the Hawks in the 30' but was saved.
2nd Half:
UNCP looked to add to the lone tally early in the half but was denied by the crossbar and Olivia Borer.
Rebekah Langley had a strong look at the cage but was saved by the Braves' netminder.
Chowan was unable to find the equalizer in the second half.
