SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team edged Converse 10-8 to win their school record posting sixth win of the season on Sunday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action.

Alexandria Hammonds paced the Hawks with four goals on the afternoon. Tashana Barnett scored two goals and recorded an assist.
Heather Orell scored once and tallied two assists.
Mallory Dunker improved to 4-1 in goal this season with five saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Sabrina Isch put the Hawks on the board with the first goal of the contest off a pass from Tashana Barnett.
Converse would take the lead with four straight goals before Alexandria Hammonds ended the stretch with a free position goal.
The Valkyries would push the lead back to 5-2 with just under 12 minutes remaining in the half. Alexandria Hammonds and Heather Orell would score to close the gap to 5-4 two minutes later.
Converse scored their final tally of the half before the straight goals for the Hawks to end the half allowed Chowan to lead 7-6 at intermission.
Tashana Barnett started and ended the string of goals with unassisted tallies. Alexandria Hammonds teamed up with Heather Orell for a goal during the run.
Second Half:
The scoring slowed after two quick goals by the Hawks to start the half. Jasmine Latney found the back of the net off a pass from Heather Orell just 56 seconds into the half. Alexandria Hammonds extended the lead to 9-6.
The Hawks defense was stout to start the half as Converse was held out of the scoring column until the 11:21 mark in the half, when the Valkyries closed the gap to 9-7.
Misten White found Leslie Escobar for the insurance goal to ice the contest with 41 seconds remaining.
Converse would score with 25 seconds left but unable to get any closer than 10-8.
