MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team wrapped up their 2018 campaign with a doubleheader sweep over St. Augustine's at home on Sunday afternoon.

Julian Lopez broke the single season stolen base record in the first inning of the day with two stolen bases. Lopez finished with four on the afternoon to give him 26 on the season.
Marquise Lanier led the Hawks at the plate with four hits including a home run. Nick Rose drove in a team-high six runs on the afternoon. Tyler Jones and Harry Markotay hit home runs.
Josh Vincent and Ryan Gallaccio picked wins on the mound for complete game victories.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 6, St. Augustine's 2
Marquise Lanier put the Hawks on the board early with a solo home run. Julian Lopez drew a walk and swiped second and third for the single season record but was left at third.
The Hawks would tally a run in the bottom of the second inning as a fielding error allowed a run to score for the 2-0 lead.
Marquise Lanier would put pressure on the Falcons in the bottom of the third inning reaching on an error before swiping second and third. Nick Rose would drive home Lanier from third on a sacrifice fly.
Tyler Jones extended the lead in the fourth with a solo home run to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead.
St. Augustine's were able to get on the board in the sixth inning with two runs on a hit and two walks in the inning to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Chowan countered with a pair in the bottom half as Trenton Lee reached on an error before Harry Markotay hit a two run shot to push the advantage to 6-2 for the victory.
Game Two: Chowan 13, St. Augustine's 2 (5)
Chowan scored in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. Marquise Lanier produced a one-out double before coming around to score on a Nick Rose single to right.
The Hawks would put the game out of reach in the bottom of the second as Chowan scored six runs on four hits to lead 7-0. Tyler Jones singled to left to open the inning and moved to second on a balk. Bailey Lipscomb singled and moved to second on a passed ball. Trenton Lee drew a walk to load the bases. Jones scored on the ensuing wild pitch. Marquise Lanier reached on an infield single to keep the bases loaded.
Julian Lopez kept the train moving with a RBI walk. Nick Rose produced a sacrifice fly before Trent Brosdahl walked to load the bases once again. Robert William hit a single to right field to score two as Brosdahl scored on a wild pitch.
The Falcons produced their only runs of the game in the top of the third on a two-run home run.
Chowan answered in the bottom half of the inning with four run to stretch the advantage to 11-2. Nick Rose and Tyler Jones tallied two-RBI doubles in the inning for the insurance.
The Hawks would record two more runs in the fourth inning to take the victory 13-2.
