BOONE, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team kept their momentum picking up their first Conference Carolinas win of the season over Lees-McRae on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Anthony Alfonso paced the Hawks with five goals on the afternoon. Alex Clabaugh tallied five points including four goals and one assist.
Nick Lavoy and Xavier Wingfield posted two goals each. LaVoy added two assist, while Wingfield notched one.
Zach Mueller picked up the win in cage recording 14 saves. Skylar Briscoe went 16-25 at the face-off spot. Briscoe picked up nine groundballs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Chowan jumped out to an early lead just 32 seconds into the match as Nick Lavoy found Anthony Alfonso for the first goal of the contest.
Lees-McRae found the equalizer three minutes later but the Hawks would tack on five goals in the final 10 minutes of the period to lead 6-1. Nick Lavoy added his second assist on the afternoon finding Xavier Wingfield for the goal.
Nick Lavoy would find the back of the net for the first time off an assist from Noah Holloway and again from Jacob Ferretta for the 4-1 lead.
Xavier Wingfield scored off an assist from Austin Lee before Skylar Briscoe won the face-off and scored 16 seconds later for an unassisted goal.
Second Quarter:
The Hawks would open the contest to 9-1 early in the second period as Alex Clabaugh scored 23 seconds into the period. Anthony Alfonso scored back-to-back unassisted goals to stake the Hawks to a 9-1 advantage.
LMC scored with 4:34 left in the half to trail 9-2.
Third Quarter:
Anthony Alfonso continued the scoring for the Hawks in the second half finishing off the assist from Josh Nicholson.
Alex Clabaugh scored back-to-back goals to extend the advantage to 12-2.
The Bobcats scored their lone goal of the period with a minute left.
Fourth Quarter:
Lees-McRae looked to make a run in the final stanza scoring six goals in the period. The Hawks held off the run with four goals.
After conceding a goal, Noah Holloway countered with an unassisted goal. Alex Clabaugh would find Austin Lee for a goal to counter another LMC goal.
Anthony Alfonso and Alex Clabaugh scored off assists from Josh Nicholson and Xavier Wingfield for the final tallies of the contest for the Hawks, 16-6.
The Bobcats scored three goals in the final three minutes of the contest to fall 16-9.
