BRIDGEWATER, VA.- The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team dropped a non-conference neutral site contest against Charleston (W.Va.) on Tuesday afternoon, 19-6.

Heather Orell paced the Hawks with five goals including 4-5 in free position attempts.
Alexandria Hammonds collected two goals and picked up eight draw controls. Misten White and Leslie Escobar tallied one goal each.
Emily Bush took the loss stopping 13 shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
After an early goal by the Golden Eagles, Heather Orell and Alexandria Hammonds put the Hawks up 2-1 on a free position goal and an unassisted tally.
The Hawks would hold the lead for 10 minutes until back-to-back tallies for Charleston regained the lead 3-2.
Misten White scored a man-up goal on a free position attempt to even the contest at 3-all with 13:59 remaining in the opening half.
The Golden Eagles would rattle off five straight goals to take an 8-3 lead until Alexandria Hammonds scored an unassisted goal with 1:29 left in the half to end the spurt. Heather Orell found the back of the net on a free position attempt with 17 seconds remaining to trail 8-5 into the intermission.
Second Half:
Heather Orell would put the Hawks on the board just 52 seconds into the second frame to close the gap to 8-6.
Charleston responded with two goals before Heather Orell tallied another goal to trim the deficit to 10-7 with just over 20 minutes left to play.
Two more goals by UC allowed the visitors to extend their lead to 12-7. Leslie Escobar scored off a Tashana Barnett assist to trim the deficit to 12-8 with 12:35 remaining. Heather Orell scored the final tally for the Hawks two minutes later to draw the contest to 12-9.
Charleston scored four goals to end the contest to take the victory 16-9.
