BELMONT, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 19-4 Conference Carolinas contest to Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon.

Heather Orell netted a hat-trick in the losing effort. Tashana Barnett tallied the final goal for the Hawks.
The Hawks were unable to get the offense going producing five draw controls.
Emily Bush recorded 12 saves in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Belmont Abbey jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead before Heather Orell put the Hawks ion the board with 17:32 remaining in the opening half.
The Crusaders slowed down the pace scoring twice in the final minutes of play in the half to lead 11-1 at the intermission.
Second Half:
Heather Orell found the back of the net just 35 seconds into the half off an Alexandria Hammonds draw control.
Belmont Abbey would counter to push their advantage to 16-2 before Tashana Barnett scored.
Heather Orell scored on a free position goal for the final tally as Belmont Abbey secured the 19-4 win.
